RAGLEY, LA (KPLC) -
Houses are few and far between on the strip of Highway 171 through Ragley. Courtney Reid lives on Highway 171 across the road from where Sheriff deputies say 53-year-old Jerry Stover had been shot and killed outside of his home. Reid said that shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, she and her family noticed a lot of activity. Soon after, swarms of law enforcement.
"There were a bunch of cop cars out there and there were people sitting down when they were all in the yard," Reid said. "All the cops were in the house, people were crying and things like that."
While authorities are in the early stages of their investigation and haven't declared a motive, Reid thinks the commotion may have stemmed from one of many things.
"There was a brick that people the cops were carrying," she said. "A white brick of something. I don't know what it was but you could only think what it may be."
Not much is known about the house, the people or persons who lived there, but Reid said the location has always been a little odd.
"Things over there ... things that go down over there are probably different," she said.
While no suspects are in custody, Sheriff Ricky Moses said the investigation is still ongoing.
