Ragley homicide, PPG fire & threat of severe weather - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Ragley homicide, PPG fire & threat of severe weather make for a busy holiday

Good Afternoon & Merry Christmas,

Lee Peck from the KPLC 7 Newsroom. Despite it being a holiday there is no shortage of news today. Here's a look at what we are working on for 7 News Live at Five and 7 News at Six.

The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide. Deputies got the call this morning about a man possibly shot in his front yard on Highway 171 in Ragley. Once on the scene the victim, Jerry Stover, 53, was deceased. At this time investigators don't have any suspects or a motive.

A scare at PPG today after a fire sends crews working to put it out. PPG officials confirm the fire started in the PHH production unit that produces vinyl. According to plant officials it took approximately 30 minutes to put the fire out. No injuries occurred and there was no offsite impact. The investigation is ongoing.

Plus, we have new details from that overnight car vs. train near Tank Farm Road and Tom Hebert Road.

Also it's a beautiful day, but don't be fooled. I just spoke with Meteorologist Cedric Haynes who describes it as the calm before the storm. He'll have a detailed forecast of the severe weather moving through this Christmas.

We know you'll be enjoying time with family and friends but we hope you'll join us tonight at Five and Six for these stories and much more. And remember the easiest way to get updates on all of these stories and more is to visit kplctv.com.
