SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -
Traffic on Highway 27 between Hackberry and Sulphur can get pretty congested during the early morning hours when people are traveling to and from work and school, and again in the afternoon hours when they're doing the same.
Many drivers say the road needs improvements, especially as you approach the Sulphur area.
Steve Jiles with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says officials are aware that the road needs work, but right now there is no money for it.
With the expansions of the LNG plant in Cameron and Sasol, traffic isn't going to get any better on the roadway. Jiles says as soon as the funding is available, the project will be put on the department's priority list.
State Sen. Ronnie Johns, R-Sulphur, also says the roadway is a priority of his for the Lake Area.
We'll have more on the story on later editions of 7 News.
