Multiple fatalities in Oregon shopping mall shooting

KPLC News Director Charlie Haldeman is substituting tonight for Cynthia Arceneaux.

At least 3 people are dead after a man started shooting in a busy shopping mall in Portland, Oregon today. One of those dead included the shooter. At least one person was wounded in the ordeal. Witnesses said a man wearing some sort of camouflage outfit and a white mask began firing rounds near the mall's food court. NBC News is providing us with an updated story on this incident.

You've no doubt heard about the KPLC Community Christmas and Salvation Army Angel tree efforts. While we are proud to do this event every year, 2012 has been a big challenge for us. Donations are down. Way down. When we say we need all the help we can get, we really mean it this year.

Remember last week's story of the elderly Lake Charles woman found in a ditch by a police officer? She was reported missing by family members when LCPD's Ryan Magee went looking for her. Tonight, Officer Magee was recognized for his efforts by city leaders.

Drew Shirley went to Washington-Marion tonight to cover some basketball action. Plus he has results from the latest rounds at the NFR in Vegas. Several local cowboys are there competing.

In weather, 7 Stormteam Chief Meteorologist Wade Hampton's calling for low temperatures in the lower 30's along I-10 and the upper 20's north of the interstate. Frosty December maybe? Definitely close!

We'll see you on TV tonight on 7 News Nightcast and any time at www.kplctv.com
