COLLEGE STATION, TX (KLTV) -

Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Johnny Manziel spoke to the media for the first time on Monday to talk about his breakout freshman season.

He's one of the most talked-about athletes in all of college sports, but he hasn't had much to say this year despite breaking SEC and NCAA records once set by Cam Newton and Tim Tebow.

A humble Manziel told the media contingent during his teleconference that winning the Heisman is something you dream about as a kid growing up, and he's honored to be considered for college football's most prestigious award.

"I feel like that situation will play itself out, and whatever is meant to be will happen," said Manziel.

Manziel has been quiet this season because Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin does not allow freshman to speak to the media.

Quiet also appeared to be Manziel's modus operandi on the field as he quietly worked his way through the first half of this season.

It wasn't until the second half of the season and the game against Alabama that people started to take notice.

Thus, the Legend of Johnny Football was born. However, Manziel says he doesn't see himself as any sort of legend.

"I still see myself as Jonathan Manziel," he said.
