City still working on agreement with Mardi Gras Boardwalk

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles city officials expect to have a purchase agreement with Mardi Gras Boardwalk within the next two weeks. City Attorney Billy Loftin said they have discussed the latest issues with developers for Mardi Gras Boardwalk as late as last Friday.

Mardi Gras Boardwalk plans to purchase the lakefront property from the City of Lake Charles for $4,400,000. Loftin said they are very close to a deal.

"We expect to have the final draft prepared for review by the developers next week and we look to even sign that document maybe the following week which would be this week if it wasn't for the Thanksgiving holidays. We are getting close on that issue," explained Loftin.

Mardi Gras Boardwalk is proposing a $46,000,000 mixed-use development with entertainment, restaurants and retail on the former Harrah's property along the lakefront.
