LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
With Thanksgiving just a day away, many groups in Southwest Louisiana are making sure residents in need are well fed this holiday season.
KYKZ'S Chad Austin has been camped out in front of Ashley's Furniture since Monday collecting food donations for Abraham's Tent. They delivered the food this morning, including 100 turkeys.
Austin says waiters and waitresses from Peaux Boy's Deli put their tip money together to donate over $1,600. But they weren't the only ones helping out.
Dallas Cowboys player Nate Livings took time to donate to ones in need too. Livings, a Lake Charles native, donated 71 turkeys to area residents to signify his jersey number. Some of the turkeys were donated to the Women's Shelter and to the Potter's House.
We'll have a full Thanksgiving wrap on later editions of 7 News.
