Lumber truck overturns on I-10, traffic diverted

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Lake Charles Police Department issued an alert around 8 p.m. Friday for motorists to avoid Interstate 10 eastbound around mile maker 31 because of an overturned lumber truck.

The advisory said motorists should avoid the area for the next several hours.

Traffic is being diverted using I-210.

    While the roundabout at Nelson and Ham Reid Road still isn't completed, parish engineers are planning more roundabouts for that area. In total Ham Reid Road will get four roundabouts as it is extended from Elliott Road to Big Lake Road, with the project costing close to $6 million.
