GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) -

One person is transported to a local hospital after a crash Thursday afternoon involving a school bus.

Gladewater Police Chief Ferrell Alexander said the two-vehicle crash between the Big Sandy ISD bus and ice cream truck happened near US Highway 80 and Pear Road.

Alexander said his officers are assisting with traffic control, while Upshur County deputies and other first responders arrive and assess the scene.

The bus was heavily damaged and the ice cream truck was rolled over on its side in the crash. Department of Public Safety Troopers said it looks like the ice cream truck was making a left-turn when it hit the school bus from behind.

East Texas Medical Center EMS officials said one person was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. Our crew on the scene has learned that person was the driver of the ice cream truck. We are told the driver and a student were aboard the bus.
