Board of supervisors merges LSU president and chancellor positions

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The LSU Board of Supervisors voted Friday to merge the positions of LSU System President and Chancellor of the LSU Baton Rouge campus.

The move could save millions of dollars and help the different schools and colleges work more closely.

LSU hasn't had a president since late April, when the board fired John Lombardi.

Former Chancellor Michael Martin left in August to become the head of the Colorado State University System.

Former President William Jenkins is filling both positions until a permanent replacement can be found.
