RAGLEY, LA (KPLC) -

A two-vehicle crash near Ragley on Friday claimed the life of a Texas woman, according to Louisiana State Police, Troop D.

According to troopers, shortly before 9 a.m., authorities responded to the crash on U.S. 190, about three miles east of U.S. 171 between Ragley and Reeves in Beauregard Parish.

Troopers say the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by 59-year-old George L. Hodges Jr. or DeQuincy, was traveling east on U.S. 190 when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line and traveled into the westbound lane of travel before striking a 2010 Mazda 3, driven by 71-year-old Robert L. Stinespring of Llano, Texas, head-on.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals with moderate injuries.

Troopers say the lone passenger in Stinespring's vehicle, 71-year-old Guadalupe L. Stinespring of Llano, Texas, was sitting in the front passenger seat and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

All vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to troopers.

Troopers suspect Hodges may have fallen asleep prior to the crash.

Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis.

Hodges was charged with driving left of center.

The crash remains under investigation.
