LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The man suspected in the alleged assault on the campus of McNeese State University turned himself in, according to Lake Charles Police.

The suspect is Donald Bluin, 29, of Lake Charles.

Lake Charles Police spokesman Mark Kraus told KPLC that McNeese State University is leading the investigation.

A Thursday booking report reflects that Donald Bluin was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail on a charge of simple rape.

The booking information states that bond was set at $500,000.

According to McNeese campus police, someone entered into the Zigler Suites on campus and assaulted a resident early Wednesday morning. The Zigler Suites are shared dormitories.

University Public Information Director Candace Townsend said Wednesday that the reported victim was not hurt.

Officials have said that the incident remains under investigation and that McNeese police are continuing to interview possible witnesses and examine evidence.

Townsend told KPLC on Thursday that a weapon was not used in the reported assault. She also said that someone must have let the alleged intruder inside the living facility.

"There was no forcible entry into the residence hall or the suite where the assault occurred and McNeese police are working to determine how the suspect entered the residence hall," she said.
