Two people killed in St. Landry Parish crash

EUNICE, LA (KPLC) -

Louisiana State Police Troop I reported Sunday that two people were killed when a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on U.S. 190 in St. Landry Parish.

Troopers said the accident happened just after midnight at the intersection of U.S. 190 and Industrial Drive in Eunice. They said a pickup truck towing a horse trailer apparently turned in front of a three-wheeled motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the side of the trailer.

Authorities said 52-year-old Ronald Bellard was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner.

A passenger, identified as 52-year-old Carla Barras, of Opelousas, later died at a hospital.

The pickup driver, identified as 42-year-old David Deveer, was not hurt in the crash.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
