The following news release was issued at 11 a.m. Sunday by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office:

The person of interest wanted in connection with a shooting that took place Saturday afternoon in the town of Iota, in Acadia Parish, has turned himself in to authorities.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, Jarrett M. Andrews, age 23, 1000 block of Lyman Street. Rayne was booked into the Acadia Parish Sheriff at approximately 11:30 p.m. charged with 1st Degree Murder.  His bond was set at $350,000 by District Judge Kristian Earles.

The victim is now being identified as Nathaniel Wiltz, age 23 of the 200 block of Section Street, Rayne.   

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation by the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office and Iota Police Department.
