BAYOU CORNE, LA (WAFB) -

Officials report there has been another "cave-in" of the massive sinkhole in southeast Louisiana.

The Assumption Parish Blog indicates a 10-foot by 50-foot section on the southwest side of the sinkhole "fell into" the slurry.

The site stated five trees were lost during the slough in and cleanup at the site has stopped until further notice.

Crews managed to complete the process of driving casing into the third vent well.

Officials added workers were able to go down to 200 feet and flaring is expected to begin by the weekend.

A briefing for residents is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the command post in Pierre Part.

It's unfortunately more common than you would think: pet owners dropping their animals off at the vet and never picking them up. Most offices cannot take in these animals, so they just end up at the shelter.
