ETX military man flies home when his pregnant wife goes into coma

An East Texas father is spending every waking moment at the hospital.  His newborn son is in the NICU, and his wife is in a coma.

After seven years of trying to conceive, Sean and Heather Brown received the greatest news ever earlier this year, they were expecting their first baby.

"It came back and it was an overwhelming relief that we finally were able to conceive," said Sean regarding the pregnancy tests.

Shortly after the news Sean, who is also a Gladewater Police Officer, was called to serve in Afghanistan for the US Army.

"We coped; we still had access to talk to each other, so that kept us stable through phone, email and Skype," said Brown.

But on September 14th, Heather Brown, at just 34 weeks pregnant, suffered a severe headache and on her way to the ETMC emergency room, she began to have seizures.

"She ended up having an aneurysm in her brain and slipped into a coma. They had to do an emergency C-section for the baby, and Heather hasn't come out yet," said Brown.

Sean traveled from airport to airport trying to get home in a hurry.

"My police department that I work for in Gladewater coordinated with Tyler Police Department and they had a police escort waiting for me to rush me over to see my son," said Brown.

At just four pounds, John Michael Thomas Brown is in the NICU, but he is expected to be ok.
The main concern is mom.

"They're expecting her to eventually come through, she is not brain dead. She does have some brain activity, and she is going to recover but we don't know to what extent," said Brown.

Sean says everyday he tries to get stronger through prayer, for his wife Heather and baby John.

Family and friends of the Brown family have set up a fund to help support their medical stay, as well as Sean's time away from work.

Donations can be dropped off at any Austin Bank in East Texas, under the 'Heather and John Brown Fund'.

    Rain likely tonightRain likely tonight

Tonight will be very stormy with plenty of showers around. There will be heavy rain at times with some strong storms. Winds are likely to gust up to 20 mph. Most of the stronger and severe weather will stay to our north. It does not mean we will not see some outbreak. The severe risk for us is not zero. Rain chances for tonight are up to 80%. This rain is caused from a cold front that will stall over us, or slow down by Sunday. This will allow the rain to last most of our Sunday.
