A Lake Charles man is accused of breaking into the senior center on 15th Street in Lake Charles.

Authorities say that around 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the center in reference to a burglary alarm.

According to a news release from Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Myers, when deputies arrived, they discovered several windows had been shattered.

Myers said deputies found 48-year-old Lloyd W. Thomas asleep in the restroom of the building.

Thomas was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property over $500 and theft under $500.

Bond in the case was set at $7,500.

Individuals arrested are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
