Still no decision in school bus sharing request in Calcasieu

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Progress, but still no decision on whether Calcasieu Parish public schools will have to share bus service with charter schools.

The Lake Charles Charter Academy and the Southwest Louisiana Charter Academy began requesting transportation service from the Calcasieu Parish School Board back in May.

The board denied the request this summer.

The charter schools have followed up with a lawsuit against the district.

School Board Superintendent Wayne Savoy is still discussing a possible agreement, but nothing official has been reached, officials said.
