Lake Charles man accused of stealing from employer

A Lake Charles man is accused of stealing from his employer, according to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say on Sept. 13, deputies were dispatched to a store on West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles regarding a theft complaint.

Upon arrival, deputies reportedly spoke with store security personnel who alleged that employee Devon C. Hebert, 25, had been caught stealing on store surveillance on numerous occasions over the past four months.

Hebert is alleged to have stolen over $2,500 by processing returned merchandise from customers and placing the returned money onto personal gift cards.

Authorities say Hebert was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $1,500.

Hebert's bond is set at $3,000.

Individuals arrested are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
