EUNICE, LA (KPLC) -

A Texas man is facing charges of simple assault, simple battery and false imprisonment after authorities say he grabbed a woman and kissed her in the Eunice Wal-Mart and attempted to do the same to another woman.

Randy J. Butcher, 40, is in the Eunice City Jail on $4,304 bond.

Authorities say he is a truck driver who was parked at the store.

According to a news release from the Eunice Police Department, deputies responded to the store shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies said a female employee reported that a man walked up to her and began speaking to her.

The employee said the man asked for her telephone number and when she refused, he blocked her path, grabbed her and kissed her.

The employee managed to get away and notified her supervisor, police say.

Around the same time, authorities say a second female, a customer, reported that a man tried to solicit her telephone number but was confronted by the woman's boyfriend who was nearby and witnessed the man's alleged behavior.

Wal-Mart employees located the man and detained him until police arrived.
