BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -
The wife of a Louisiana National Guardsman killed on Tuesday says her husband, Sgt. Kevin Weiner, was a great family man.
Kevin Weiner, 30, of Shreveport, was killed while heading home from helping Hurricane Isaac victims. Louisiana State Troopers say the accident happened around 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon, between Natchitoches and Alexandria. Investigators say Weiner was killed after his Humvee was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer.
Weiner and his wife, Monica, have three children, ages five, three, and one. She says her husband was a great man, friend, husband and father. She wanted to talk to KSLA News 12 to let the community know what he meant to them.
"I just mainly wanted people to know what type of person he was and how much he loved me and our children more than anything. He was so happy to be coming home. I got a text message from him that morning saying 'I can't wait to get home to see you.' That was the last message I got from him," she says.
Funeral arrangements are set for Sgt. Kevin Weiner: Hillcrest Funeral Home Highway 80 East Haughton, LA 71037 Visitation: Friday, Sept. 14, 5 - 7 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, Sept. 15, 1 p.m. Related: SoldierMore>>
