LAKE CHARLES (KPLC)-The McNeese State football racked up 69 points, the second most in school history, and rolled past McMurry in its home opener, 69-7.
The Cowboys tallied 484 total offensive yards, including 282 rushing, while the War Hawks had only 246 yards of total offense.
"I was really pleased with the way we came out and played tonight," said McNeese Head Coach Matt Viator. "I thought we did a good job of moving the ball and thought we really did well on offense. It was also nice to get a lot of players in the game."
The Cowboys led 45-0 at the half, and due to such a significant lead, every player on the roster was able to get playing time.
Cowboys senior safety Chris Raggett set a single-game school record and tied a FCS record with two interception returns.
The Pokes (2-0) hit the road next Saturday, September 15th, for a match-up with Weber State.
