BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
While the U.S. job market is expected to add nearly 20 million jobs over the next decade, there are some occupations that are expected to decline considerably. The website 24/7 Wall St. has come up with the top 10 job categories most likely to shrink by at least 14 percent.
It is probably no surprise that postal workers top the list, but number 10 really stands out because it hits close to home.
Petroleum Pump System Operator jobs are expected to decline by 14 percent. Those are the people who control and operate the machinery and systems used in the processing and refining of petroleum.
On the other hand, the number of petroleum engineers is expected to increase by 17 percent.
The rest of the list is below:
Postal Workers
Sewing Machine Ops
Shoe and leather workers
Communication Equipment Ops—telephone receptionists, etc.
Semiconductor Processors
Textile machine ops
Coil Winders, tapers, finishers
Prepress technicians and workers
Desktop publishers
Petroleum pump system ops, refinery operators and gaugers.
