LAKE CHARLES (KPLC) - One year ago, McNeese State offensive lineman, Miguel Gauthreaux thought his career was over.

"Last year, I didn't really know if I was going to get back," Gauthreaux said. "There was so much uncertainty."

"You're expecting to play a whole season and it's like bam, you're out, and you don't know if you're ever going to get to play football again, " said Gauthreaux's teammate, Alec Savoie.

Last year in August camp, Gauthreaux tore his ACL, which sidelined him for an entire season.

"It was bad, I tried to be a rock and help out my teammates and do what I could but it was hard for me," said Gauthreaux. "I never thought that would happen to me."

However, the NCAA granted him a sixth year of eligibilty, and now he gets another chance to play the game he loves most.

"Couldn't be more excited, really, I love Miguel,"said McNeese State Head Coach Matt Viator. This is his sixth year here with us, and you know Miguel is a great player but Miguel is all about team. He's a tough kid."
