Isaac Postpones Local Football Games

Isaac Postpones Local Football Games

Hurricane and/or Tropical Storm Isaac may not have done any damage over here in southwest Louisiana, but it has definitely wrecked the opening weekend of high school football, at least partially.  These are the local games affected:

  • Sam Houston and St. Louis will play Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Pickering and Jena will play Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Oakdale and Many will also play Saturday night at 6 p.m.
  • Kinder and Elton has been postponed till Saturday at 7 p.m.
  • McMain and Westlake has been canceled and will not be re-played.

At this moment, we do not know of any other postponed games.

If, and the key word is if, most of the local games stay on the schedule for Friday, then Touchdown Live will premiere Friday night after Nightcast.

A deadly virus is threatening the crawfish industry in Southwest Louisiana. It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
