STARKS, LA (KPLC) -
Law enforcement officers have more than just storms to deal with.
An incident in Starks required attention from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police.
Authorities had to neutralize a homemade explosive device.
Sgt. James Anderson with Louisiana State Police's Troop D told KPLC-TV that a Hazardous Material Team was also contacted to assist.
Anderson said it happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
"We responded to a possible explosive device in the Starks area. We arrived on scene and determined the device on scene was an explosive device, and that device was rendered safe. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be handling the investigation," Anderson said.
