Lake Charles police investigating store theft

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Lake Charles Police Department is investigating a theft from a local store.

According to a news release from Lake Charles police, on Aug. 24, at approximately 5:20 a.m., a black male wearing a white T-shirt and a dark LSU cap walked into the Circle K at 107 Jefferson Drive and asked the clerk for two cartons of Kool cigarettes.

Authorities say the clerk placed the cartons on the counter.

The subject then reportedly asked for an additional item and when the clerk turned her back, the subject grabbed the cigarettes and walked out the door.

Police say the man drove out of the parking lot in an older model tan or gold-colored four-door car. He was captured on store surveillance.

Those with information about the suspect is asked to call Detective Dustin Gaudet at 240-6049.
