Join us for 7 News at Noon!

Good morning everyone!

Agnes DeRouen in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for 7News@Noon.

It's life in prison for Robyn Davis and Carol Sissy Saltzman following their conviction in the murder of Brian Davis back in 2009. KPLC's Theresa Schmidt was in court as the women spoke.  Find out what they had to say at noon. For background on this case, you can go HERE.

There's an incredible animal cruelty case we'll tell you about. Crowley Police are investigating a complaint regarding animal cruelty at the Crowley Animal Shelter. It's a story that includes dog fighting allegations and more. One man, a former worker for the shelter, has been arrested.

Also today, there's a big change in lunch menus across the nation as kids go back to school. Reports show more children are obese than ever before, so changes on their lunch trays may help curb childhood diabetes and other obesity related diseases.

Plus a discovery in the dirt and sand near a NASA research center that has nothing to do with space or technology. Instead, this discovery has everything to do with prehistoric times.

Kind of a gloomy day, and Ben tells me scattered showers will continue on and off throughout the day today. What will our weekend bring, and what about Isaac? Ben is working on his live, local forecast right now, so be sure to check it out at noon. In the meantime, you can check out the tropics HERE.

Remember, you can always watch us online at kplctv.com and on air. We hope you join us, and have a wonderful weekend!

A modern-day 'Sandlot' comes to Lake Charles

    Sunday, May 28 2017 7:54 PM EDT2017-05-28 23:54:49 GMT

A group of boys are taking their love for baseball off the field and into the backyard. And no, this isn't a scene out of the 1993 classic "The Sandlot." It’s happening right here in Lake Charles.

At the David household, there's something special going on in the backyard.

“One day in the backyard we came out here and decided to start playing around,” said Dylan David, who started a Wiffle ball league with his friends.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout this week

    Sunday, May 28 2017 5:25 PM EDT2017-05-28 21:25:05 GMT
Rain likely on Memorial DayRain likely on Memorial Day

Through tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. At times we could see heavy rainfall. The rain will make its way out by sunrise on Memorial Day. The winds are still blowing out of the south and will continue to blow 5-10 mph overnight. This will keep our temperatures warm. Overnight, we will struggle to get out of the 70s once again. Unfortunately, the rain chances are still high for Memorial Day and through next week.
