BAYOU CORNE, LA (WAFB) -

Displaced residents in Assumption Parish now have a new day and location to pick up assistance checks.

The massive sink hole at Bayou Corne continues to prevent them from going home.

Because of overcrowding at the pickup site last week, Texas Brine said Worley Catastrophe Response will now be giving checks out Thursday at the St. Joseph the Worker Church Hall in Pierre Part from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Texas Brine also said it has started an enhanced air monitoring program in the Bayou Corne area Wednesday.

Officials said crews will use hand-held monitoring devices at each house to test the air quality.

They said they will check the air quality at each house twice a week until further notice.
