Lafayette, LA (KPLC) - Family and friends of Mickey Shunick are preparing to say their final goodbyes.
Funeral arrangements are being made now that Shunick's body has been located and the investigation is over.
Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing the University of Louisiana at Lafayette student. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.
A friend of the Shunick family says that there will be a private ceremony. A public memorial is also in the works.
"We're slowly getting together to talk about a memorial service," said family friend Josh Coen. "Something fun, upbeat and celebratory to celebrate the life of Mickey and something I think she'd be proud of."
Lavergne has also confessed to the 1999 murder of Lisa Pate.
