The Farmer's Market in DeRidder is a staple in the Beauregard Parish community. On the third Saturday of every month, the Farmer's Market hosts its 'Farmer's Market Days' which include a bigger-themed event for the community. Today it's a Back to School carnival.
"Kids have just finished summer and by now they're getting homework, so this is to motivate them to stay happy during these first few weeks of school," said city coordinator Ashley Rush.
The carnival is free for everyone and features booths and presentations from the DeRidder Police Department, Fire Department and Beauregard Parish Health Unit.
It's not all fun and games though. For those still needing immunizations, required to be in school, the Health Unit is offering walk-in appointments until 2 p.m.
