LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
The former governor and congressman who ran for president last year, described as a "fearless reformer" by his former commissioner of administration Dennis Stine, was a keynote speaker at Friday's LegisGator Luncheon at L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles.
Buddy Roemer said we are a nation in trouble. He said the nation looks like Louisiana did 25 years ago.
He spoke about the nation's debt, tax code, Congress and the President.
Congress and Washington aren't broken, "they are bought," said Roemer.
Roemer also spoke about need for reform regarding campaign contributions. He said he wants a man or woman elected as president who is "free to lead."
We'll have more on the LegisGator Luncheon on later editions of KPLC-TV.
