The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On Aug. 7, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a Westlake refinery regarding an employee stealing materials.

Upon arrival, deputies were advised employee Vester C. Moore, 43, of Butler, Ala., was captured on video surveillance stealing copper wire from the refinery warehouse.

On Aug. 9, CPSO detectives were notified by refinery officials that Moore was seen walking out of the refinery to his vehicle with a full backpack and when he re-entered the refinery, the backpack was empty. After confronting Moore, refinery officials searched Moore's vehicle and located over $4,200 worth of stolen welding lead, including 42 welding lead connectors that were cut, and two 50' welding leads, inside his truck.

Moore was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged theft over $1,500.

Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $1,500.
