LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
Lake Charles Police issued a statement, updating Saturday's fatal crash that claimed a man's life on Interstate 210 at the Nelson Rd. exit:
On Saturday August 11, 2012, at about 1:30 p.m., LCPD responded to a one vehicle crash on the I-210 east bound off ramp to Nelson Rd.
The vehicle was driven by a white male and had a white female passenger. Both occupants were transported to local hospitals. The vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into an overhead sign support pole.
At the hospital, the driver, Allen G. Bergeron Jr., 59 years old of Rayne, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing and no citations were issued. Alcohol involvement is not suspected.
In addition, police told 7 News a female passenger were taken to the hospital. Her condition has not been released.
