CPSO arrests Iowa man for cruelty to a juvenile

The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On July 30, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint regarding Jaime R. Capps, 35, of Iowa, physically abusing a 10-year-old child.   

Further investigation revealed the child had been whipped using a belt, causing severe bruising on both sides of the child's buttocks. 

Capps was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile and released on a $1,500 bond set by Judge Wilford Carter.

CPSO Detective Cinnamon Salvador is the lead investigator on this case.

    It's not unusual to hear complaints about the U.S. Postal Service in our area. The latest comes from a neighborhood off Nelson Road where residents say they no longer get daily delivery. "Whether snow, sleet or rain or whatever it   should be delivered," said Terry Bellard, who lives at Smith Village mobile home community. Residents say their mail is no longer delivered regularly.
