NEW YORK (RNN) - Reports of what appeared to be an early morning blaze at One World Trade Center turned out to be a false alarm.
Firefighters were on scene after they got a call around 7:45 a.m. ET that a fire had started on the 88th floor of the tower, according to NBC New York. When officials arrived on scene, however, they found no fire.
The report of a possible fire was called in by a member of the public and believed to actually be related to welding, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey told the Associated Press.
Nearly 90 firefighters responded to the reported fire, NBC New York reported.
The report is the second false alarm for a World Trade Center building in four months.
On April 12, authorities ordered the evacuation of Two World Financial Center after a package containing a novelty hand grenade was found in the building's mailroom.
The building at One World Trade Center, previously known as the Freedom Tower, has been under construction since April 2006.
Steel has already made its way up to the 102nd floor of the building while floors are being installed on the tower's 90th floor. In total, the building will rise to 104 stories.
Once completed, the building will be 1,776 feet - making it America's tallest building.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2013.
