SANFORD, FL (RNN) - George Zimmerman's wife didn't appear in court Tuesday for arraignment on charges she perjured herself while testifying during her husband's initial bond hearing.

George Zimmerman, 28, was arrested for the February shooting of Trayvon Martin, 17, in Sanford, FL.

On Friday, July 27, Shellie Zimmerman's attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

Shellie Zimmerman was arrested on June 12 after investigators accused her of lying to a judge about the couple's financial situation.

At a bond hearing on April 23, Shellie Zimmerman told a judge the family was almost destitute. She said the Zimmerman family was trying to "scrape up anything that we possibly can," to help George Zimmerman pay his bail.

She also told the court she had no idea how much money the family had gained through a fundraising website for George Zimmerman's defense.

However, jailhouse calls in the days leading to the hearing revealed both George and Shellie Zimmerman knew he had access to more money. Transcripts and audio recordings of the calls were released by the Seminole County Court on June 18.

In the calls, the couple spoke in vague terms that appeared to be code. The Zimmermans repeatedly discussed setting a password in order for Shellie Zimmerman to be able to gain access to something that is never specified.

It's been widely speculated they were speaking about the PayPal account where supporters donated through TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com, a website devoted to raising funds for George Zimmerman's defense.

In a call placed on April 16, Shellie and George Zimmerman finally managed to set up a password for Shellie Zimmerman to get into the account. Less than an hour later, Shellie Zimmerman phoned George Zimmerman and told him she was at a bank to access her safety deposit box.

Prosecutors allege Shellie Zimmerman was there to deposit funds from the PayPal account into the box after finally gaining access to the account earlier that day.

During another call placed on April 15, the couple appeared to talk in code about how much money they have.

"I'm trying to think, because you're going to take out $10 and put it, and keep it with you in cash, right?" George Zimmerman asked his wife. "You have more than $10, right?"

"Not with me," Shellie Zimmerman responded.

"If you have $10 then you can, maybe that same day, put 10 in hers [presumably his sister's account] and she can take the 10 out," George Zimmerman said later in the conversation.

Prosecutors said it seems highly unlikely the Zimmermans were honestly talking about transferring $10 between bank accounts. They allege that the Zimmermans were instead talking about transferring $10,000 from the $200,000 raised for George Zimmerman's defense fund.

The claim seems be supported by a jailhouse call on April 16. George Zimmerman's sister, Susie, tells Shellie Zimmerman to add "three more zeroes," to the $10 George Zimmerman told her to transfer between accounts.

In a call later that day, Shellie Zimmerman said in total the couple had "like $155."

Shellie Zimmerman has been charged with perjury in official proceedings, which is a felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in jail.

George Zimmerman was given a second bond hearing and released on a $1,000,000 bail on July 6.
