The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of the KPLC viewing area from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM this evening.
A Heat Advisory is issued when heat index values are expected to reach or exceed 108F which will occur by early afternoon and may last for a few hours.
Some ways to beat the heat would be to try to stay indoors as much as possible this afternoon, drink plenty of water, and try to limit strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours.
Signs of heat exhaustion include pale, cool, moist skin, profuse sweating, profuse muscle cramps or pains, faint or dizzy feeling, headache, weakness, thirst, nausea, and a body temperature of 100F or higher.
Signs of heat stroke include unconsciousness or markedly abnormal mental status (dizziness, confusion, hallucinations, or coma), flushed, hot, and dry skin, blood pressure may be high or low, hyperventilation and a body temperature of 105F or more.
It's also good idea to check on pets often and make sure they have plenty of water and a shady spot to stay cool.
