LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The sentencing for the man convicted of second-degree murder of Daniel Gueringer has been postponed.
The new court date has been rescheduled for 9 a.m., Friday, July 27 due to complex legal arguments raised by Bryce Perkins' defense attorney.
One of the issues requires a waiting period of at least 24 hours before a sentencing can be imposed.
Perkins was found guilty of second-degree murder of Marine Daniel Gueringer, who was killed Fourth of July weekend in 2009. Second-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence.
Theresa Schmidt is in court and will have the latest as it becomes available.
