following is a Press Release from The United States Department of Justice:
United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today that Lester
Hugh Golden, 31, of Sulphur, La., was sentenced to serve 17 ½ years in federal prison
for possession of child pornography. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District
Judge Richard T. Haik in federal court in Lafayette, La. In addition to the
prison term, the judge also sentenced Golden to a lifetime of supervised
release.
Golden pleaded guilty in February of 2012, to receiving child
pornography. According to court documents previously filed with the court, an
undercover investigation revealed that the defendant attempted to join a child
pornography website multiple times.
During an FBI search at Golden's residence, the defendant
confessed to downloading child pornography from the internet on numerous
occasions. A forensic examination of the defendant's computer revealed 1,600
images and 75 videos of child pornography.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
Lake Charles Resident Agency. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United
States Attorney John Luke Walker.
