LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Boston Academy has its very own airplane.
The plane was delivered Wednesday for a brand new curriculum and aviation class that will be taught to high school students this fall.
The program is all a part of a partnership between Sowela and Chennault, aimed to teach students what it takes to become a skilled aviation worker.
Director of the Lake Charles Boston Academy Charles Adkins said, it's important to have these types of programs because it provides students another opportunity for a career.
"Right now the Chennault Airport has several tenants there, Aeroframe being one of them," Adkins said. "Aeroframe needs workers right now, and so what we are hoping to do is to provide opportunities for high school students to start a career while in high school, go to Sowela, continue their education and hopefully get a job locally in a local industry and remain Louisiana citizens."
