Lake Charles step team heads to N.Y. for televised competition

The following is a Press Release from the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau:

The nationally acclaimed Xtreme Step Team will be representing Southwest Louisiana on a national television network program, B.E.T.'s 106 & Park Wild Out Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. in New York City.

This will be Xtreme's second time performing on Wild Out Wednesday, and this time they will be competing for the Title of All-Star Champions.

On August 1 beginning at 5 p.m., viewers can vote multiple times by texting or by downloading the "106 & Park"app. The winner will be announced at 6:30 p.m., so it's critical that we support these youth by voting so that they can bring back the title for the state of Louisiana.

Xtreme Step Team has been established in Lake Charles, Louisiana since 2009 and has been coached by Randy Baggett, Jr. and directed by Sandra Baggett.  The Xtreme Step team members are as follows: Jasmine Price, Jaresa Jackson, Amber Clay, Matthew Thompson, Tyrone Cormier, Devin Aaron, Devonte Aaron and Felman Wiltz.

After years of political gridlock, the United States and China reached a trade agreement for exporting rice. Once the deal is finalized, it could provide a boost to farmers across the U.S., including those here in Louisiana.

From rice farming alone, Louisiana earns $712 million in revenue in exports, and across the U.S., $5.6 Billion, not including the value added from mills.
