Red Cross helping those displaced in two overnight fires

The following news release was received by KPLC from the local chapter of the American Red Cross:

American Red Cross volunteers assisted two families, including eight people, overnight after their Southwest Louisiana homes caught fire.
Four adults were affected at 1394 Edwards Road in Dequincy after the 11 p.m. fire there.
Based on individual needs, the Red Cross is providing temporary housing, food, clothing, shoes and comfort kits.
The volunteers also provided water and snacks for the six agencies working that Dequincy blaze.
The Red Cross later assisted at a 1 a.m. fire in Lake Charles. Three adults and one child were at home at 2500 Smith Road, Lot 74, when the fire started.
The Red Cross provides such aid as a gift to those in need after a disaster strikes. The charitable organization -- not a government agency -- depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.

More rain again MondayMore rain again Monday

Periods of off and on rain with some thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday as more upper level disturbances cross our area.  It is important to note that it will not rain all day, and there may be long periods with no rain at all.  The next upper level disturbance is expected to cross over our area late Sunday into Monday and that means more rain and possibly some thunderstorms too.  It is expected to be warm with lows in the 60s and highs in the 70s.
