Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra gets funky for summer concert

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra rehearsed for the annual Summer Pops concert at the Civic Center.

This year's themed concert will feature Motown songs. The concert will also feature Broadway singers.

For more than 30 years, the Summer Pops concerts have been a tradition with the LCSO. Angie Manning Istre with the Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau said it's a chance for the orchestra to play some popular tunes that everyone knows and loves.

"The Lake Charles Symphony is going to bring down the house Motown style," Manning Istre said. "It's just going to be a great experience. Musical memories for everybody."

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.
