Griffin injury puts damper on U.S. basketball opener

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Blake Griffin has aggravated a left knee injury during the U.S. Olympic team's training camp and has returned to Los Angeles for evaluation.

The Clippers forward was hurt during a scrimmage Wednesday.

Anthony Davis is returning to Las Vegas and could be in uniform for tonight's opening exhibition game against a Dominican Republic team led by his college coach, John Calipari of Kentucky.

The No. 1 overall pick is a team alternate after failing to make the 12-man roster.

The Dominican's just finished playing in an Olympic qualifying tournament on Sunday, falling one victory short of claiming the 12th and final spot in the London field.
