What authorities thought were potential graves near Brandon Lavergne's home turned out to be nothing, said Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton.
Earlier today, KATC in Lafayette reported that St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Deputies and Lafayette Police investigated three possible grave sites, after authorities received a tip from a farmer about a dirt mound in his property near St. Ann's Catholic Church in Swords, LA.
Lavergne is accused of murdering and kidnapping UL Lafayette student Mickey Shunick.
Police announced him as a suspect in the Shunick case last week.
Deputies searched the property around 6:30 a.m. this morning with 4-wheelers and RTV's, since the property cannot be accessed by regular vehicles.
