LAKE CHARLES (KPLC) - McNeese State's Darius Carey, Malcolm Bronson and Alec Savoie have all been named to the 2012 preseason FCS All-America team.
Carey, a senior and a native of New Orleans, was named to the first team. He led the Southland Conference and was second in the nation last season with 16.0 yards per punt return average.
Bronson, a three-time all SLC athlete, was named to the second team. The safety led the Cowboys in tackling in 2011 with 90 stops. He looks to become only the second player in school history to earn first team honors in four straight years.
Savoie, despite missing three games due to injury, was also named to the second team. One of the leaders on MSU's offensive line, he was credited with 38 pancake blocks and 41 knockdowns in 2011.
McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin tied for the second most of any Southland Conference school to place players on three teams.
