The Stars and Stripes Celebration celebrated its 21st year in Jennings on Tuesday, July 3.
The event brought out families and people of all ages together for food, fun and to remember why we celebrate Independence Day.
"Freedom. Freedom of the country," Daniel Doucet, a war veteran from Hathaway said.
"Just remembering our country and the freedoms that we have and the freedoms we get to enjoy," Lisa Trahan of Jennings said.
Live music took the stage at the Oil and Gas Park in Jennings beginning with Geno Delafose and the French Rockin Boogie. The royalty of SWLA took the stage and a military ceremony followed conducted by local Vietnam Veterans.
Music and other entertainment pleased the crowd until 9 p.m. when a firework display lit up the night sky.
"I'm a former veteran so it means a lot to me that we don't forget the reason for the holiday," Michelle Hebert, Jennings City Coordinator said of the event and holiday.
