Today Louisiana Attorney
General Buddy Caldwell issued the following statement with regard to the U.S.
Supreme Court ruling to uphold the federal health care law:
"The U.S. Supreme Court's
decision to uphold a law that forces millions of Americans to buy insurance
under a new federal health care act is deeply disappointing. We fought this
battle to protect the freedom of American citizens from the overreach of the
federal government and argued to halt this takeover of health care.
"Our position has always been that
Congress does not have the authority to force Americans to buy insurance and
that the act is an unprecedented intrusion into individual freedoms."
