Cyclist in serious condition after being struck in Sulphur

A Sulphur man is facing several charges after sheriff's officials say he had been drinking when his car hit a bicyclist Saturday morning.

It happened just before 8 a.m. in the 1500 block of Swisco Road. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office says a car driven by 41-year old Chad McMichael struck the bicyclist... the man who was hit, went to the hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition this evening.

Officials say McMichael is charged with vehicular negligence, careless operation, driving on a suspended license, and his second charged of DWI. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
